The Flag of San Diego, Califiornia
San Diego's history is interesting. San Diego Bay was discovered by Europeans in 1542 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo entered the harbor. In 1769 a Spanish colonizing party founded the first European settlement at what is now Old Town. The City was organized as a Pueblo in 1834. In 1850 the pueblo was incorporated as an American city under the laws of the new State of California.
The flag was adopted on October 16, 1934 by the City Council but not manufactured. The first flags were produced during World War II, in 1943, at the U.S. Naval Station's Flag Shop in San Diego. Currently the flag is seen flying over the more important City buildings and at many civic events. It is available in flag shops in a variety of sizes.
The flying flag is from the City of San Diego's Homepage. The image is located on the City Council Districts page.
